King’s Cross Design District 2019

For the first time, King’s Cross is a London Design Festival Design District

vAlready home to incredible design brands, the District saw some of the biggest names in the area opened their doors to the public, presenting exhibitions, installations, talks and much more, as well as welcoming back designjunction,

KX Design District inaugural programming included high profile events including Disco Carbonara, a site-specific installation at Coal Drops Yard by Martin Gamper was a playful addition to the King’s Cross architecture. From the world’s leading designers to breakthrough brands, designjunction presented the most forward-thinking design experiences alongside furniture, lighting and accessories in a celebration of contemporary design. 

Granby Workshop showcased the world’s first ceramic tableware made from 100% waste. The street also played host to installations focusing on reuse and sustainability, in addition to launches and exhibitions with design-led residents House of Cans, StoreStore and iyouall. Tom Dixon explored the six senses at his London hub, the Coal Office, with a multi-faceted experiential exhibition, “TouchySmellyFeelyNoisyTasty”. Designing In Turbulent Times, a Central Saint Martins, LVMH and Maison/0 exhibition, showcased graduate projects offering propositions for more sustainable and equitable futures.
